About Madeline

Madeline Coffey is a dedicated social justice advocate and Winston-Salem local.  Coffey is a first-generation college graduate and received her B.A. in History from Wake Forest University in 2017.  While in college, Coffey served as Vice Chair of the College Democrats of North Carolina Women’s Caucus, Chair of Students for Bernie Sanders, Vice Chair of the Winston-Salem College Advisory Board, and co-founder of Queer Defiance, a student-led social justice coalition.  She has been involved in local, state, and federal campaigns including Kay Hagan for Senate, Gloria Johnson for Tennessee State House, Bernie Sanders for President, and Hillary Clinton for President. She was a member of the 2016 Wake the Vote cohort, a bipartisan civic learning and democratic engagement program founded and directed by Melissa Harris-Perry.  After graduating college, Coffey worked as Political Director of the Jenny Marshall for U.S. House campaign. Coffey will graduate from Wake Forest University School of Business in 2019 with her M.A. in Management. She lives in Winston-Salem with her 3 cats, Anderson Coo-purr, Rachel Meow-dow, and Rosie O’Cat-ell.
